Be Happy, Stay Healthy with your local library
THURROCK Council’s Library service is bringing together a range of displays and taster sessions highlighting local health information providers during national Health Information Week from 3 – 8 July.
From providing ‘Reading Well Book Prescription Scheme’ for mental health support and dementia resources (jigsaws and Aqua paints), current Macmillan Information leaflets Thurrock libraries also offer a wide range of information books.
During the week, visitors can check their blood pressure with The Stroke Association or have a relaxing Indian Head Massage/hand reflexology taster from local therapist, Maureen Huelin.
Find out about how to cope with Tinnitus or if you are a little younger, you can join in with the active storytelling session ‘Kitchen Disco’. Organisations such as the Recovery College are available to help with wellbeing support (such as depression and mindfulness) as well as Healthwatch, More Life and Thurrock Lifestyles.
If that wasn’t enough to keep us all healthy and happy, Thurrock Healthy Lifestyle service is around across libraries to help people stop smoking, manage healthy weight and complete NHS health checks.
