Athletics: Four Harriers compete at English Schools Champs


English Schools Track & Field Championships

FOUR Thurrock Harrier athletes were selected to represent Essex in the English Schools Track & Field Championships held in Birmingham on 7th & 8th July; Theo Adesina, Funminiyi Olajide, Hayley Instance, and Ruby Bridger.

Great performances in Long Jump saw two medals being brought home; Theo won bronze medal with a jump of 6.77m in the Intermediate Boys and Funminiyi took the bronze medal in the Intermediate Girls with a jump of 5.83m. Hayley ran well making it to the final of the 1500m and came 8th with 4:40.59, unfortunately Ruby fell in the heats of 75mHurdles. Theo and Ruby also ran in their respective teams in the finals of the 100m relays.

Eastern Youth Athletes’ League (EYAL)

Youngsters were at Norwich on Sunday (2nd July) for their third leg of the EYAL. Competing against Norwich, Waveney Valley, Team Norfolk, Bedford & County and Ipswich.

The team, who saw great performances from all it’s athletes with many personal and seasonal bests, came fourth overall.
