THE LEADER of Thurrock Council has gone on the record to deny that a number of homes in Tilbury are being bought by London boroughs.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Rob Gledhill offered assurances to residents that new homes being built on the old St Chad’s site in Tilbury are not being block bought or rented by other Local Authorities.
Cllr Gledhill said: “I’m pleased to put to bed some rumours circulating that London Boroughs are block purchasing or renting local homes for their residents.
“That is categorically untrue.
“I have spoken to senior officers and we all agree, while there continues to be such local demand, any interest from other local authorities will not be entertained.”
