Armed police swoop to arrest man on suspicion of threatening to harm Thurrock councillors

A MAN has been arrested after reports that a person had placed a message on social media that he had bought chemicals and was going to attack Thurrock councillors.

YT understands that a number of councillors were warned about the alleged message on Wednesday morning.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Police arrested a man on suspicion of making threats to kill at around 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, September 27).

“Armed officers arrested a 39-year-old man in Chadwell Hill, Grays.

“He remains in custody for questioning.

Thurrock Council has declined to comment.
