Chadwell St Mary man escapes jail after admitting causing death of Grays biker

A CHADWELL ST MARY has been given a suspended jail term after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.

A Suzuki motorbike and a Citroen C3 were in collision on the A1013 Stanford Road, Orsett, on September 21, 2016.

The motorcyclist, Douglas Dines, aged 55, from Grays, sadly died at the scene.

Geoffrey Goodall, 62, self-employed, of Hill House Drive, Chadwell St Mary, admitted a charge of causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared at Basildon Crown Court on October 9.

He was sentenced the same day and given a two year jail term, suspended for two years, and banned from driving for three years.

He must complete 200 hours of unpaid work, was given a four month curfew between the hours of 7pm to 6am, and ordered to pay £750 court costs.
