THE 13th Thurrock Civic Awards were launched last week at the council’s Cabinet meeting (11 October) and are a way of saying thank you to our local people and organisations who go above and beyond to make a positive difference to the borough.
The awards ceremony, which is sponsored by local organisations and businesses, will be a black tie event hosted by Danny Crates, Orsett-born, former Paralympic European and World Champion at The Civic Hall in February 2018.
Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tunde Ojetola said: “We want to hear about people and organisations who have dedicated their time and efforts to their local community, but may have gone unrewarded. You now have an opportunity to help celebrate these fantastic local Thurrock heroes.
“Perhaps you know someone who works hard to protect the environment we live in, a club or sports person who’s had amazing success, a young person who has overcome extraordinary difficulties or a tireless volunteer. We want to hear their stories”.
“The Thurrock Civic Awards allows them to get the recognition they deserve and we are asking for your support to help acknowledge those who have made a special contribution to our borough.”
Nominations for one of the nine categories can be made online at thurrock.gov.uk/civicawards and are open until Monday 27 November.
Nominees who are shortlisted for awards will be contacted and invited to the ceremony.
