Investigation after fire in Lakeside store

Essex Fire

ESSEX Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire within a shop this evening (Tuesday).

On arrival, fire crews reported that the shop’s stock room was completely smoke logged and a small fire was burning.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 8.18pm, before clearing smoke using Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fans.

The shop had been evacuated by shopping centre security personnel upon the fire alarm sounding, while a member of staff used a fire extinguisher effectively to ensure the fire was kept under control until fire crews arrived.

Minor smoke damage has been suffered throughout the shop’s premises.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
