AS part of the ‘Building a Stronger Britain’ programme, this Saturday 17 March across Grays Town Centre, Thurrock CVS and Creative Blast are proud to present the Hidden Gems Festival and launch its Community Conversation initiative as part of the national Get Creative festival.
The day includes a whole host of FREE creative workshops and taster sessions in a variety of artforms, to further highlight some of Thurrock’s creative and cultural excellence. There will be something for everyone, from lacemaking to poetry, from learning how to draw mandalas to singing, drama and circus skills.
From 3pm, there’s a chance to see some of the area’s best performing arts, with an hour-long showcase of poetry, music and singing at the Thameside Theatre. This is followed by FREE tea and coffee! There’s no need to book any of the activities or performances, just turn up and join in the fun.
Throughout the day we’ll also be discovering your Hidden Gems, talking to you about the things that make your experience of living in the borough worthwhile, and collecting information about what you would like to see and do more of in your area.
Project Director Daryl Branch said: “We are extremely excited to be presenting the first-ever Hidden Gems festival in Grays. All of the people delivering workshops and performing in our showcase event are from Thurrock. This is a great opportunity for local people to try something new that they have never done before. We also want to capture local peoples thoughts on what they love about their area and what they would like to see and do more of. We can’t wait to bring the community together to celebrate their Hidden Gems and hopefully inspire more people to get involved and take up something new!”
The Hidden Gems Festival runs this Saturday 17 March from 10am to 4pm across Grays Town Centre at various venues. Absolutely no experience is needed to take part and all activities are open to anyone of any age! Check out www.strongertogether.org.uk for the full festival programme.
