THE company running the Tilbury to Gravesend ferry service say they are hopeful of returning to service shortly after more than two weeks of inactivity.
Jetstream Tours has suffered major problems with both the boats it uses on the route, meaning commuters have had to use a road replacement bus service.
A statement from Jetstream on Wednesday about its boat Thames Swift, which has suffered engine failure, said: “A new engine has now been successfully installed was run up today with the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) in attendance.
“While all seems to be good, we have a couple of items on our snagging list to ensure the vessel is ready for service.
“We hope to announce a re-commence date shortly.”
