SOUTHEND and the surrounding area can expect another bumper weekend if the latest weather forecasts prove to be correct, according to c2c.
During the first bank holiday in May ticket sales on c2c trains, which offers a regular service from London to Southend and Leigh-on-Sea, were substantially up on last year. More than 250 thousand journeys were made on the route which is excellent news for local businesses and attractions, which benefit from summer trading.
With the weather looking promising, c2c is predicting another good weekend and travelling by train is proving to be one of the most popular ways to get to the coast. The train operator is offering a full service during the bank holiday with train services running between London Fenchurch Street and Southend all weekend. Furthermore, taking the train means day trippers can avoid bank holiday traffic and also don’t have to worry about where to park when they arrive.
Clare McCaffrey, c2c Commercial Director, says: “This is a real indicator of Southend and the surrounding area maintaining a special place in people’s hearts. We look forward to welcoming people on-board all of our services and are delighted we can be a part of helping to boost the local communities we serve along the route. We can provide the travel, the area offers everything for a great day out, weekend away or week long break – all we need now is more sunshine to complete the formula for a record-breaking summer!”
What’s more, c2c offers a range of offers on train journeys in addition must-have discounts on attractions.
