THE CONSERVATIVE-run Thurrock Council withdrew its plans to debate plans to build up to 32,000 homes in Thurrock.
The decision was made due to changes to planning policy laid out yesterday (Tuesday) where definitions of matters such as affordable housing have been made.
The Thurrock Independents Group are less than impressed. Thurrock Independents Party Leader, Cllr Luke Spillman said: “Tonight Thurrock Tories have withdrawn the Local Plan after realising their disastrous plan to build 32,000 homes in Thurrock did not have the votes to get it through.
“We have been calling on them for months to get their plan in order but so far they have refused to meet any of our six tests.
Hopefully now they have accepted that they are out of their depth that they will listen to the valid concerns of residents and councillors before proceeding.”
More reaction to follow.
The London Borough of Thurrock is coming make no mistake. We will have these 32,000 houses imposed upon us, no doubt about it.
And just think, all without a Hospital.
thurrocksgonedownhill is right the central government which ever clown is in office. Will enforce 32.000 homes on Thurrock.
The local Authority is a laughing stock with no real power. We went Unitary andall that happened was the Mayors and councillors were subservient to their political ideologies.
London has to expand somewhere. Give everything West of the M25 to London and everything East to Basildon.
