TWO men have been charged in connection with the theft of a car from Tilbury.
The Ford Focus was stolen from Raphael Avenue on August 4.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We were contacted after the car was seen in East Tilbury Road, Linford, shortly after 11am on Saturday, August 11.
Three men were arrested.
James Mitchell, 49, of Bronte Close, Tilbury, was charged with handling stolen goods and possession of a knife in a public place.
Joseph Wright, 20, of Victoria Road, Horndon-on-the-Hill, was charged with handling stolen goods, two counts of common assault and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
They appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monday, August 13 and denied the charges.
The next hearing will be on September 5.
A 27-year-old man of no fixed address who was arrested on suspicion of robbery has been released under investigation.
