St Lukes are pleased to announce that applications for ‘Strictly St Lukes 2019’ are now open – but be quick – applications close on 10th September !
Leanne Kightly, Corporate & Donor Relations at St. Luke’s explains ‘Now in its third year ‘Strictly St Luke’s is proving to be a popular and fun event and we are now looking for people who want to take part next year. Don’t be put off if you have no dance experience, you just need passion, time, a willingness to dance and raise lots of money for the Hospice!
Successful applicants are paired up with a professional dancer and together- over the course of several months – learn One Ballroom and One Latin dance. Both of these dances are performed in front of an audience of family and friends at the prestigious Civic Hall, Grays on Saturday 16th March 2019. This is a great way to learn how to dance or dust off your dancing shoes and revive an old hobby – have fun, keep fit or get fit !
Leanne added ‘All participants are required to raise a minimum sponsorship of £500 with additional points awarded for the more money they raise. We then have 4 independent judges who will score each dance on the night. The audience also have an opportunity to support their favourite couple to win’’
Hairdressing salon owner Debbie Wiseman won the prestigious title in March 2018 alongside professional dancer, Simon Ridley, she practised for several hours every week before her big performances where she mastered the Tango & the Jive. Alongside this she also fundraised for the event, through collection boxes, raffles & donations from family & friends, raising an amazing £2,120.
Debbie said, “It’s been a fantastic experience & I am so happy to have supported such a worthy cause.”
Debbie is a long term corporate support of the Hospice having raised over £20,000 in previous years through her salon, The Classic Hair Company, based in Tilbury.
