Thurrock 32 v 22 Westcombe Park
THURROCK entertained Westcombe Park for the first home league game of the season, in front of a large crowd full of expectation.
Following on from defeat at Sevenoaks last week Jake Barrand was successful with two penalties in the first quarter, it was quickly followed by a well worked Barrand try which he converted for a 13-0 lead.
But on the 30 minute mark Cameron got the visitors on the board with a penalty followed by a try from Deschamps which was unconverted. But there was still time for Barrand to convert another penalty for a 16-8 lead.
The visitors reduced the deficit within a minute of the restart high a kick ahead was not dealt with and Hamilton sprinted to score with Cameron adding the extras to reduce the lead to one point Barrand added yet another penalty to increase the lead but Deschamps who looked offside sprinted through to score with Cameron converting for the visitors to lead 22-19
It was Barrand again that drew Thurrock level and the home side started to pile on the pressure and it was centre debutant Niall Clifford who crashed over close to the posts giving Barrand an easy conversion. Well into injury time Barrand added a further penalty for a individual haul of 27 points and take away the visitors possible bonus point.
