Rugby: Referee doesn’t meet Thurrock halfway at Medway

THURROCK 10 v 20 MEDWAY

Thurrock Rugby

Firstly, Ben Stanley was yellow carded for an alleged no arm tackle video evidence suggests it was legal, a minute later Jake
Barrand went for an interception with hands up, he knocked it on referee deemed deliberate, another Yellow and Thurrock down to 13 men. During the 10 minute spell either side of half time Thurrock conceded 10 points the difference between the two sides.

A converted try and a penalty put Medway ahead, until Thurrock deserved got on the scoreboard with a Reece Miller try to make the score 10-5 at the break after good work from Tom Pool and Nat Farrell

It was the second half with Thurrock back to full strength and trailing 20-5 then the Thurrock players and faithful see the a very late tackle which went un-penalised and no yellow card, then the Medway full back did the same as Jake Barrand but again went without caution or even a penalty.

Pressure in the last 10 minutes told as Jake Barrand crashed over following some great work from the forwards. Thurrock had one last chance to snatch a losing bonus point with a penalty with the last kick of the match but it went just pass the posts and Thurrock at to settle for second best on the day.

This week Thurrock travel to unbeaten new boys Camberley RFC with kick off at 3.pm

From a Thurrock RFC supporter. Please don’t embarrass our rugby club by posting such inaccurate made up articles. Anyone who watched the game on Saturday could see both yellows were deserved.
