ALFIE Bowers, 11 and Brandon Shaw, 12 (Ortu Gable Hall) stepped in to help a woman after a car accident outside Corringham Library earlier this month (11 September).

Sally Feeney, Vice Principle of Gable Hall School said: “The incident is being investigated by the police and therefore no details can be shared at this time.

“However, these pupils demonstrated the ethos of the Ortu Trust and we are all incredibly proud of them.”

One of the drivers involved, Sue Stratford said: “I was so taken with them. I am so impressed with how they handled themselves. They are a credit to their schools and should be very proud of themselves.”

The boys wrote a joint statement about the events. They said: “After going into a shop to get a drink we heard a crash. So, we walked over to the lady to make sure she was okay. We stayed with her until the end when she was okay.”
