Careers showcased at Opportunity Thurrock

THOUSANDS of students from schools and colleges across Thurrock took part in the region’s largest careers and further education expo.

Students learnt about a variety of career opportunities available in Thurrock at Wednesday’s Opportunity Thurrock event at London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, and even managed to experience some of them via Virtual Reality (VR), simulators, activities and demonstrations.

Among those exhibiting at Wednesday’s expo, which was organised by Thurrock Council’s Inspire team, were organisations from priority sectors such as construction, creative and cultural, engineering, hospitality, logistics, public service and retail.

Cllr James Halden, Portfolio Holder for Education, said: “With so many fantastic exhibitors and interesting activities taking place, it’s easy to see why Opportunity Thurrock is the biggest and best careers event in the region.

“It makes me very proud to see young people in Thurrock so excited and engaged by the diverse opportunities available to them in the borough. I would like to thank and congratulate our Inspire team for once again putting on such an excellent event.”

Opportunity Thurrock takes place on the first Wednesday of October every year. Employers, colleges or universities that would like to take part in the 2019 Opportunity Thurrock can find out more at www.thurrock.gov.uk/careers-advice/thurrock-careers. Opportunity

  1. My advice is to consider a degree and a masters degree. Or an apprenticeship (skilled occupation).

Look at Growth industries of the future like BioTech, CleanTech, FinTech and A.I……..
Don’t look at jobs that will be replaced by robots or A.I. In a few years.

Also look at international trade and small business entrepreneurship.

It’s you’re future kids make it a good one. You can do it 🙂
