The forthcoming weekend is a big weekend for local football.
FOR the club’s first team, it’s the Preliminary Round of the prestigious FA Trophy. A trophy that the club has previously won two consecutive years running (2005 & 2006). The match will be played on Saturday 13th October against Sevenoaks Town FC at home @ Parkside, KO 3pm.
It is also the annual Non-League Day (www.nonleagueday.co.uk) – an important day in the footballing calendar. It is always planned for a day when there are no scheduled Premiership or Championship games, to give football fans across the country a chance to support their local non-league side.
One of our many youth teams will also be joining us on the day. Our U11’s led by Tunde Egbo, will be training on the pitch before the game and leading out the first team as mascots. We look forward to welcoming them to Parkside and hope they enjoy their day. Our Little Avengers Team below at their Mascot Day in September 2018.
We are one of only two senior teams playing at home in the borough that day, so come along, bring the kids and find out what we are all about. Check out our first team and also our future talent. We can guarantee you will be made very welcome.
As at every home game, our trusty band of volunteers will be hard at work just inside the ground by the turnstiles, which is always a busy marketplace. Here you can buy our much revered programme – always a worthy read – packed full of interesting articles, facts and information for only £2. Club merchandise will also be available along with a raffle (great prizes!). If you have any questions at all about the club please feel free to ask any of the volunteers or staff on the day or if you prefer, you may email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
The club will be supporting the league’s charity for this year’s Non- League Day which is Save The Children (www.savethechildren.org.uk) – please give generously.
Admission Prices for the FA Trophy game are
Concessions (Students with ID and Adults 65 and over) £5 Kids (16 and under) £1
Coming Up for GAFC, we have two away league fixtures – Soham Town on Saturday 20th October and Coggeshall Town on Saturday 27th October (subject to our presence in the FA Trophy), followed by another away fixture at Southend Manor on Wednesday 31st October in the Essex Senior Cup, then back at home in league action on Saturday 3rd November against our longstanding local rivals, Tilbury.
Also taking place on the Saturday 3rd November is our annual Race Night, which this year is being held at Tyrrells Hall Club, Dock Road, Grays RM17 6EY. Our Race Nights are proving to be increasingly popular and great fun whilst raising much needed funds for the club.
