Giving for Thurrock and IKEA are creating a better everyday life for many people in Thurrock.
IKEA Thurrock has joined the Giving for Thurrock family by becoming a local business partner of the chosen charity of Thurrock Mayor, Cllr Barbara Rice.
Giving for Thurrock, administered by Thurrock CVS raises funds for voluntary and community groups and connects communities within the local area. Supporting over 300 local charities, groups and organisations to support and serve the people of Thurrock, it relies on donations, fundraising or volunteer services that directly impacts on people’s lives.
Lisa Duxbury, HR Manager, IKEA Lakeside said “We have been looking for a focus for the numerous fundraising activities we support at IKEA Lakeside. Giving for Thurrock shares many of the principles we do in IKEA, by supporting families, vulnerable young people and community groups in our local area, so we were more than happy to jump on board. Funding and support from Giving for Thurrock is kept local and as a local retailer with many of our customers and co-workers living in the Thurrock area, this felt like a well-designed partnership that we were enthusiastic to be a part of.”
Kristina Jackson, Chief Executive, Thurrock CVS said “Having a strong local partner on board makes all the difference to our local community fund. As well as fundraising, Giving for Thurrock connects communities and supports volunteering. We can react quickly in identifying where need is required locally though our network of community organisations. We have lots of exciting things happening over the next six months including being the chosen charity for the Grays Christmas Lights Switch On and a fantastic Giving for Thurrock Day on 29 March 2019.”
