Senior League Cup

Catholic United are into the Quarter Finals after beating Sungate 4-1 on Saturday. Tom Hollingsworth, Aaron Baldwin, Jamie Salmon and Tony Jacobs supplied the Catholic goals with Jermaine Purchas notching the Sungate consolation.

 

Essex Junior Cup

Leigh Town came through their all-Olympian 4th Round tie against Corinthians with a 2-1 away win. George Darby bagged a double that sees Leigh Town into the Quarter Finals.

 

Premier Division

Bishop’s Stortford Swifts are up to second after a 4-2 win over Old Southendian. Goals from Michael Moore, Josh Osude, Joel Brown and Mark Robinson secured the win that now sees them level on points with leaders Harold Wood Athletic with only goal difference separating the two teams. Tom Staines and Ed Gould scored the Old Southendian replies. Leigh Ramblers are up to fifth after goals from Montana Stewart, Andrew Webster and an own goal saw them beat Hutton 3-1. The visitors scored their goal via Chris Skingley. Canning Town finished the weekend in sixth after a 2-0 away win was garnered at Springfield thanks for goals from Neil Barrett and Suliaman Massaquoi. Manford Way picked up their first point of the season after a goalless draw with Great Baddow but remain rooted to the foot of the table.

 

Division One

With Snaresbrook and Ramsden Scotia both not playing means that the chasing pack had a chance to play catch up – and three of the teams did exactly that. Shenfield AFC, who sit third, could only post a point to the board though; Ronnie Hobbrough and Ben Absolon scoring their goals but Ongar Town replied through Peter Davies and Lee Perry in the 2-2 draw. FC Hamlets beat May & Baker E.C. Res. 5-0 with Ajibola Orinloshe, Tyler Sanago-Ishmael, John Gilroy, Pa Jagne and Darren Serrano-Griffiths scoring the goals that now see FC Hamlets fourth in the table. Basildon Town are fifth after a 2-0 win over Galleywood with Jimmy Markham and Barv Waikwaiku supplying the goals. Old Chelmsfordians take another step away from the relegation zone following last weekend’s win at Frenford Res. with a 1-0 win over Rayleigh Town Res. this weekend. Martin Mixture scored the goal and the win moves OC’s up to ninth. Herongate Athletic however remain in the drop zone despite a 2-1 win at Frenford Res.

 

Division Two

Runwell Sports lead Division Two after a 6-1 win over Rochford Town. Declan Clarke scored four of the goals with Jordan Gregory and Scott Mortlock also chipping in. Ashley Fowles scored the Rochford consolation. Toby meanwhile are second after an 11-0 whitewash against May & Baker E.C. ‘A’. Des Gallen, Paul Carr, Idris Aminu and Peter Spicer all scored twice, with Ben Britton, Dom Levy and Junior Bammeke also hitting the target. Jack Yates and Eric Kelly scored the Chingford Athletic goals in a 2-1 win over Lakeside, while the other two games in the division ended in draws. Ryan and Newham United both sit above the relegation zone and they shared the spoils after their encounter ended 3-3. Beacon Hill Rovers and Shoebury Town played out a 4-4 draw with Dave Howard, Charlie Brown, Will Simpson and Rene Bearman scoring for Beacon Hill: Dom Binns and Scott Clark both notched braces that helped Shoebury get a share of the points.

 

Division Three

Division Three leaders Westhamians were held to a goalless draw by Academy Soccer, which nonetheless sees them remain top with a four point lead. Roydon were big winners as they beat Basildon Town Res. 8-1. Nigel Jordan (2), Nader Benzid (2), Ewan Rockall, Darren Williams plus an own goal added to the tally, with Basildon Town replying via Toby Warren. The result keeps Basildon Town Res. at the foot of the table, with Old Chelmsfordians Res. one place above them after losing 3-1 at Old Southendian Res. The hosts scored all their goals through Greg Molford and the win keeps Old Southendian Res. one point away from Laindon Orient who occupy the other promotion place. The OC’ replied via Cosmin Rotau. Carl Dutton supplied the Hutton Res. goal in their 1-1 draw with White Ensign Res. who replied via Adam Smith.
