Stifford Clays man pleads guilty to offensive weapon possession following disturbance


A STIFFORD Clays man has pleaded guilty to two offences after a disturbance on the streets last Saturday afternoon.

Colin Higgs, aged 35, of Crammavill Street, Stifford Clays, Grays was arrested last Saturday.

Higgs was charged with the following.

On 05/01/2019 at Grays, had with you, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place, namely Crammavill Street, Grays an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a large kitchen knife .

On 05/01/2019 at Grays used towards another threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause that person to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against him by any person, or to provoke the immediate use of unlawful violence by him whereby that person was likely to believe that such violence would be used, or it was likely that such violence would be provoked.

Higgs, who remains in custody, will be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on February 7th, 2019.
