A TOTAL of 27 HMV stores are set to be axed from the high street as part of a takeover deal by Canadian music retailer Sunrise Records.
On Tuesday morning, the firm – which saved HMV after it went bust in Canada in 2017 – announced it would save the company along with 1,487 store workers.
However, it added that 27 unprofitable stores including the store at intu Lakeside would close with immediate effect, resulting in 455 redundancies.
Workers have since been notified – with the chain revealing exactly what branches will be axed from today.
