Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 23rd March Round-Up

Premier Division

Buckhurst Hill took a step closer to winning the Premier Division title after a 3-0 home win over second-placed Kelvedon Hatch. Reece Tranter opened the scoring in the 5th minute and went on to complete his hat-trick, with the win now opening a nine point gap between the two teams.  Bishop’s Stortford Swifts are fourth after a 3-2 win over Leigh Ramblers. Steve Moore, Gavin Cockman and Ashley Taylor-Forbes notched for Swifts with Seb Allen and Dan Martin replying for Leigh Ramblers. Rayleigh Town have now won three away games on the bounce, but it was heroics from keeper Dan Confrey that helped them overcome Old Southendian as he pulled off two stunning saves late in the game to make sure his team secured all the points. Harry Talbot and Bailey Moss were the Rayleigh Town scorers in the 2-1 success, with the hosts managing to at least get back on terms via a Luke Stillwell goal. Rory McKenzie scored twice for Sungate who beat Hutton 3-2, with Alan Brown their orher scorer. Hutton’s replies were scored by Will Marlowe and John Hilliard. Springfield registered a 3-0 win at Manford Way.

Ronnie Hobbrough, Harry Hatt, Alex Broadbridge, Mitch Day and George Cunningham all notched in the success. Basildon Town kept their promotion hopes intact, but they did go in at half time trailing to a Lee Perry goal that handed Ongar Town a 1-0 lead. However Alfie Phillips and Ross Giles popped up in the second half to score goals that saw Basildon Town run out 2-1 winners and end the day in third, with games in hand over the top two. Rayleigh Town Res. meanwhile are involved in the relegation battle and they did themselves no favours as they lost 4-2 at home to Galleywood. Jack Chatterway (2), Luke Osborne and Lewis Rose were ther marksmen. Herongate Athletic rifled seven past May & Baker E.C. Res with Ben Warren supplying a hat-trick. Lee Atkinson and Ben Lambert scored twice apiece in the 7-1 win. Laindon Orient kept their promotion hopes alive after a 2-0 home win over Leigh Town. James Shadwell fired home apenalty, with Samual Lake also getting on the score sheet and the win means they are now third, with one game to play and only one point away from Westhamians and Wakering Sports. However the top two also have more games left to play, so Laindon Orient need to win their final game and then hope the top two falter as the season comes to a finale. Basildon Town Res. beat Old Chelmsfordian Res. 6-3 with Alex Shields and Marcus Bowers both notching braces. Jake Bridgeman and Tommy Green also got their names on the score sheet.
