Collaborators needed for sculpture project
Metal and ForwardMotion are seeking collaborators aged 16+ to work with the innovative artist Nik Ramage to create a large-scale, moving artwork for Village Green.
Nik Ramage is a sculptor of the ‘useless and absurd’ and he will be running free creative workshops at Chalkwel Hall from Monday 29 April to Friday 3 May at 10am until 1pm with an afternoon session on Friday. The artwork itself will be fully formed from discarded bicycles, donated by Southend Recycle Centre to highlight eco travel.
These free workshops are a great opportunity to discover art, design and engineering through collaborative sessions with a professional artist. The workshops will also involve drawing, model-making, collage and sculpture, working towards final ideas for a large scale kinetic sculpture. Following the workshops, Nik will complete a final artwork in his studio, to be exhibited at Village Green for 20,000 festival-goers to see. The artwork will also tour with ForwardMotion, appearing across South Essex to spread the message of green travel.
The workshops are free and open to everyone aged over 16. It is possible to attend a single workshop or several. All are welcome, particularly those who are interested in any creative subjects.
To register for the workshops, please go to www.villagegreenfestival.com or call Metal on 01702 470700
