A GOAL two minutes from time from Toby Aromolaran gave Tilbury a 2-1 home friendly win against regular pre-season friendly opponents Holland and Blair on Saturday. George Sykes gave Dockers a 21st minute lead but the visitors equalised before the break.
Tilbury will play host to old rivals Grays Athletic in next Saturday’s annual match for the Stan Veness Trophy.
Aveley drew 2-2 in their friendly with Waltham Abbey at Parkside on Saturday.
Next up is a home friendly against National South side Welling United on Tuesday, 23 July, kick-off 7.45pm.
Grays Athletic were also in action at Parkside on Saturday and went down 1-0 to Enfield Town. They will be back at Parkside on Wednesday, (24 July) when Cray Wanderers will be the visitors.
East Thurrock United’s second pre-season match saw them go down 4-2 to Colchester United’s Under 23s.
Rocks were 3-0 down after some early errors but fought back to amke the score 3-2 and dominated much of the second half without being able to convert a number of chances before a late goal set the seal on Colchester’s win. Rocks scorers Mitchell Gilbey and George Brown.
After the game the club confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Alex Clark, who came through the ranks at Southend United and has had spells with Lowestoft Town and Harlow Town.
