THIS week, staff from intu Lakeside traded in a day at the centre and got stuck into redecorating Neptune Nursery in Tilbury.

intu Lakeside staff were hard at work as they jet washed all play areas before redesigning two playrooms and installed two new kitchenettes.

The top five shopping centre supplied bamboo fencing, children’s benches, a climbing frame, storage units and colourful bean bags for the nursery.

Sandra Hebbard, Manager of Neptune Nursery said: “The nursery needed a makeover and we are so grateful that intu Lakeside came in to help. They have not only made the nursery a happier place to be but also demonstrated that they are always here to help with local matters.”

On top of the work at Neptune Nursery, intu Lakeside also had the pleasure of working with 1st Ockendon Scout group as the centre provided the scouts with a defibrillator for their Scout District campsite, Cherrywood.

Last year, one of the Scout Leaders had a cardiac arrest and this highlighted the need for a defibrillator on site. intu Lakeside also provided a training class for the scouts to assist them if they had to use the defibrillator.

Howard Oldstein, centre director at intu Lakeside, said: “It’s important to us to support our local community. When we heard of the incident among the Scouts we knew we wanted to help and the same goes for the nursery.

“Our staff also thoroughly enjoy a couple of days outside of their normal environment which we also encourage to help with their work-life balance.

“We will continue to support our community as best as we can.”
