Grays man remanded on offensive weapons and police assault charges

A GRAYS man has been arrested and charged with a number of offences involving offensive weapons and police assault.

Joe Benton, aged 20, of Ashley Gardens, Grays was charged with the following.

On 12/07/2018 at Grays assaulted a Detective Superintendent in the execution of his duty.

On 12/07/2018 at Basildon assaulted a constable in the execution of his duty

On 01/09/2019 at Grays had with you, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely one combat style Black spring loaded lock knife.

On 01/09/2019 at Grays without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, had with you in a public place an offensive weapon, namely one black knuckle duster.

Benton has been remanded in custody until September 18th when he will reappear at Basildon magistrates court.

  1. Clearly a bad apple with no respect for anyone….Bring back execution and rid our streets of these scum.
