Work has now officially started on 35 specialist new homes.
THURROCK Council marked the official start of construction with a ground breaking event earlier today (31 October) at the site on Calcutta Road, Tilbury.
The development, which is being constructed by Kind Build, includes 35 flats which are specifically designed to meet the needs of older residents. The new homes will be located within close proximity to local amenities and key transport hubs including Tilbury Town railway station.
Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “This development will provide much needed housing in an excellent location and has been specially designed to help meet the needs of Thurrock’s elderly residents.
“We have exciting plans for the future of housing in Thurrock and intend to deliver up to 500 new council homes over the next 5 to 10 years and develop 1,000 new homes through Thurrock Regeneration Ltd.
“We believe everyone should have a good quality home and are committed to investing in new homes for our residents. I am delighted work is now under way and look forward to seeing the finished building.”
