THURROCK Council has appointed Sheila Murphy as the new Corporate Director of Children’s Services following an intensive recruitment process.
Sheila is currently Assistant Director of Children’s Services. She has worked at Thurrock Council for almost three years and started her career in children’s social care as a qualified social worker at the London Borough of Lewisham in 1988.
Sheila said: “I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity and look forward to continuing my work in Thurrock with our fantastic team to further progress our journey of improvement across all of children’s services. I am looking forward to building strong relationships with children, young people and their families, schools and our partners.
“Thurrock is a fantastic place for children and their families to thrive.”
Cllr Sue Little, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “I am delighted that Sheila has accepted this role. She has played a huge part in the improvements the team has made over recent years which has seen the service rated Good following a recent Ofsted inspection. I know that she will continue the great work she and the team have been doing.”
