University Centre open event offers free workshops

UNIVERSITY Centre South Essex is holding an open event on Saturday 28 March with a brand new selection of free workshops for attendees to take part in.

The initial information event will take place from 11am-1pm at the University Centre’s Southend Campus in Luker Road. Potential students can take a look at the facilities available and talk to lecturers about higher education courses.

Workshops will then run from 12.30-1.30pm in subject areas relating to the degrees on offer. These include; how to build an art & design portfolio of work, understanding the Financial Times, vertical and horizontal jumping, using songs and rhymes to support children’s learning, mood board creation plus auditioning for stage and screen.

There will be a free creche available for attendees so childcare will be provided while the event is taking place.

Colin Bladen-Kopacz, Dean of Higher Education, said: “Our normal informative and engaging open event has been boosted by the excellent selection of workshops on offer. Potential applicants will be able to meet lecturers and experience their teaching style, plus have a taster of what a lesson would be like and the kind of topics they will cover on the degree.”

The University Centre will also be holding another event on the same day for any potential applicants interested in the BA (Hons) Costume Construction degree. Visitors can view the great facilities at the Royal Opera House’s Costume Centre where the course is taught, based at High House Production Park in Purfleet.
