Essex Swimming Championships: Thurrock Finish Third Overall
THURROCK finished third overall at this year’s Essex Championships. Even though the top two teams had between 60-100% more swimmers, the quality of Thurrock’s swimmers was evident and a fantastic 3rd place was well deserved.
Nikita Chaykin won Top Boy in the 14 year old category, came 1st in the 200 back with an Essex Record, 1st 100 fly, 1st 1500 free, 1st 200 free, 1st 100 back.
Toni Olajide also won Top Boy in the 11 year age group, 1st 100 fly, 2nd 200IM, 3rd 200 free, 6th 100 back. Elise Delapperall 1st 400IM, 2nd 200 fly, 4th 1500 free, Ben Minister 3rd 200 back, 3rd 200IM, 6th 1500 free, 7th 100 back, Jenson Hurrell, 2nd 1500 free, 2nd 200 back, 3rd 100 fly, 3rd 200 free, 4th 100 back, 3rd 200 fly, Joshua Shepherd 1st 100 fly, 3rd 100 back, 2nd 200 free, 3rd 200 IM, Ethan Martin 1st 100 back, 4th 200 free, 8th 200 fly, Henry Dean 4th 100 fly, Sophie Conroy, Eloise Bruce 5th 200 fly, Louise Webster 7th 200 fly, Harrison Jarvis 5th 200 fly, 6th 1500 free, Jimmy Taylor 3rd 200 fly, 7th 100 back, 7th 1500 free, Osehon Ojiekhudu 3rd 100 fly, 5th 100 back, Amir Olalekan 2nd 100 back, 4th 200 back, Zandro Sanao 7th 100 back, Ayobami Akindele 4th 100 fly, 8th 200 free, Kevin Moghina 4th 200IM, 6th 100 fly, Bryony Edgings 4th 1500, 5th 400IM, 8th 200IM, Paige Laybourn-Morris 3rd 200 fly, 7th 1500 free, Rebecca West 8th 200IM, Mide Olajide 7th 100 fly. Kai Patel, Obalolu Bankole, Daniel Thompson, Daniel Boboye, Aiden Wood, Matthew Riddle, Ethan Paraiwa, Emma Harris, Alvira Khan, Oluwatamilore Bankole, Jenny Riddle, Michaela Taiwo, Radost Milkova, Colin Moghina also swam individual races and performed well.
In the relays, the Boys 15 & Over Medley Relay Jenson Hurrell, Harrison Jarvis, Jimmy Taylor, Ethan Martin finished 7th as did the Girls 11/12 Medley Relay Jodie Noriga, Alvira Khan, Roxanne Coker and Ololade Elemide-Emis.
The Girls 13/14 Medley Relay Jasmine Verlander, Priya Dhillon, Elise Delapperall, Eloise Bruce swam well finishing 4th. The Girls 11/12 Freestyle Relay – Roxanne Coker, Ololade Elemide-Emis, Lottie Delapperall, Jodie Noriega just finished outside of the top 8. Overall, Thurrock came 3rd in the 11/12 & 13/14 relays.
