Hundreds of Thurrock students not given first choice secondary school

Thurrock Council Offices

ONLY 72% of pupils who are expected to begin secondary school in Thurrock this September have been offered their top school preference.

This compares to 88% in areas such as Harlow and 85% in Essex.

Cllr Andrew Jefferies, Portfolio Holder for Education, said: “Thanks to our continued investment in school places across the borough we can ensure that as many children as possible are able to attend one of their preferred secondary school choices.

“I wish all our young people the best of luck as they make their transition from primary to secondary school and continue to learn, develop and achieve in Thurrock.”
