EAST Thurrock United have announced today (Monday 13th April) they have appointed Paul ‘Magic’ Martin as manager of the Rocks.
Rocks Online reports the new manager is well liked and highly respected around the non-league scene. He knows non-league inside out, and has a great eye for a player.
After fifteen years loyal service at the helm of Romford FC, Paul was unceremoniously sacked when new owners took control of the club last year.
Joining Paul as his assistant is former Rocks player Mark Lord. Mark was with the club in the early 1990’s, and had been working as Paul Martin’s assistant at Romford in recent years.
Danny Cossington, who impressed so many fans last year, will remain as player-coach.
Manager Paul Martin said: “First and foremost there are no words to describe what John Coventry has achieved at this club, he is a close friend of mine and It’s an honour to be succeeding such a manager.
“I would like to thank the new club officials for giving me the opportunity to manage this fantastic club.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the new committee, the youth teams and managers, meeting the loyal fan base, and meeting any challenges which may lie ahead.
“Hopefully we can all meet up as soon as possible, once the current pandemic has passed. In the meantime, stay safe everyone.”
