207 cases of coronavirus in Thurrock, latest figures show

THERE are 207 recorded cases of the coronavirus in the area covered by Thurrock Borough Council, according to the latest figures from Public Health England (as of midday Friday 17th April).

This is a rise of six cases from the previous figure (released Wednesday 15th April) however please note that this figure only takes into account coronavirus-related hospital deaths.

A figure taking into account other parts of the community, such as care homes, is yet to be released.

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital remains the worst-hit in the East of England, as reported yesterday, with 159 deaths.

Figures from yesterday (Thursday 16th April) show 33 more people in Essex have lost their lives to the virus in 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from patients dying with coronavirus across the county to 641.

In Essex, the number of confirmed cases stands at 2,083.

Updated figures for the county are expected to be released later today.
