Port of Tilbury teams up with Tilbury Football Club to host event for over 100 young people

THE Port of Tilbury have been sponsors of Tilbury Football Club for many years, and in partnership with the club on Saturday (17th July), Tilbury Football Ground opened its pitches to over 100 young people who came along to be coached by the club coaches and the team players.

The sunshine brought out many of the families too who enjoyed having a picnic and watching the event while over 100 children from ages 4 to 16 took part in training exercises. They all still had the energy for some mini matches afterwards. Trophies were handed out to the young players that impressed the coaches the most.

No one left empty handed with The Port of Tilbury handing out footballs to everyone so they can practise their football skills over the summer holidays.

Paul Dale, Asset and Site Director at The Port of Tilbury said: “Tilbury Football Club was established in 1889 by workers from Tilbury docks and today we still team up for community events like this. During a tough year for everyone, football has brought some joy to people across the country and it is great to be able to connect with the young players of the future in this way.”

Lee Upton, Youth Secretary from Tilbury Football Club said: “A great day was had by all and there were many smiling faces on Saturday. My thanks to everyone who came along.”
