Belhus 2nd XI 219-8 (50 Overs. Robert Healy 51 runs* David Hewitt 5 wickets)
Westcliff-on-Sea 2nd XI 203 All out (44.3 Overs. Ishan Madan 78 runs)
BATTING first in this seventh Essex League match of the season, Belhus 2nd XI registered a modest total of 219-8 after 50 overs as Robert Healy top-scored with 51 not out. David Hewitt bowled well for Westcliff, collecting 5 Belhus wickets for 58.
In the run-chase, Westcliff batted steadily down the order with Westcliff’s Ishan Madan stroking a fine 78, but with Teddy Waters collecting 4 wickets and Henry Overy collecting 3 wickets, Belhus 2nd XI managed to stem the tide, as the league leaders fell just 16 runs short of their target.
A keenly-contested and evenly-balanced match eventually went Belhus’ way, and skipper Martin Guilbert was pleased to see his young side move up to 4th place in their Division.
Elsewhere on Saturday, there were draws for Belhus 3s and 4s but defeat at home to, newly promoted, Hutton CC by eight wickets for the Belhus 1st XI in the HF Essex Premier League.
