South Ockendon resident petitions council over school crossing

AFTER years of resident’s distress over safety concerns for children outside Somers Heath Primary School, local residents led by Mark Hurrell, have called for action.

At tonight’s meeting of Thurrock’s Full Council, Ockendon resident, Mark Hurrell petitioned the council for a crossing outside of Somers Heath Primary School.

Mark Hurrell said “enough is enough. Parents are sick of worrying about their children’s safety just getting from school to home. It’s unacceptable that children have to dodge speeding cars and heavy HGVs on a dangerous road. It’s an accident waiting to happen.

Thurrock Council must act. They must listen to residents’ fears, protect our children and insert a crossing now.”
