East Thurrock United boss set to depart

EAST Thurrock United can confirm that first team manager Marc, along with his assistant Liam Wallace and the bulk of their backroom staff will be leaving the club after tomorrow’s game with Stowmarket at Rookery Hill.

This decision came following a midweek discussion between Marc and club chairman Steve Wiseman at which the club finances and playing budget were discussed at some length.

Most supporters will be aware that over the last three years or so, a lot of work and sacrifice has taken place to stabilise the financial situation at the club, and the football club is now operating debt free and on a sound self financing basis. We cannot put the future of the club in jeopardy by making promises we cannot afford to keep.

Marc and Liam were keen to stay in charge for tomorrow to enable them to say their final farewells to the supporters, and many friends they have made during their sixteen months at Rookery Hill, and they would like nothing better than to go out on a high tomorrow.

The club would like to put on record their thanks for all the efforts Marc, Liam and the rest of their backroom team have put into the club. They’ve worked tirelessly, under difficult circumstances to turn the club’s playing fortunes around. Not only that, but they have brought the club back together.

They are going to be a tough act to follow, and everyone here at the Rocks wishes them every success going forward.
