Thurrock Council give update on brown bin collections

BROWN bins are being collected across the borough next week from Monday 24 April. We will be collecting all brown bins whether you are week 1 or week 2.

Please put your brown bin out from early on Monday 24 April and leave it out – it will be collected as soon as possible.

General refuse will be collected as usual.

We have put this temporary plan in place for next week to collect any garden waste which has built up in your bins. We are working hard to provide a consistent service and we apologise for any inconvenience.

Due to staffing levels, we are pausing recycling collections for one week to be able to collect brown bins. The recycling from your blue bin will now be collected from Tuesday 2 May. For information about the changes to waste collections please visit our wheeled bin collection days page.

For up-to-date information on what should go in your bins please visit thurrock.gov.uk/bins.

  1. Pausing blue bin collection to allow for brown bins to be collected….

This week we’ve had green & blue collected twice!!
Wtaf are you actually doing Thurrock Council, apart from wasting our money and obviously your resources!

  2. I’m on a old peoples complex where people over65 live and we have to drag our bins out side the front gate some of us not capable of doing this on my block if I don’t put them out they say there they said they can’t get there van in due to cars park there but cars only park adjacent the fence room now for lorry to get in but they don’t drive inside

  3. I totally agree refund us on our council tax, i havent our brown bin emptied for over two months now.
Why should we pay for a service that we do not get, its disgusting!!

  4. Your laying people off because you can’t afford to pay them but you go and hire someone for 1100 a day. Disgusting and now no jobs are getting done.

  5. The weather is getting warmer and some people near me hav meat in their bins and if like last year we went nearly 8 weeks due to no bin men ?? So the council tried to tell us, and now it’s happening again, no wonder people fly tip, disgusting,, people are cutting their grass weeding, cutting branches, hedges, where is it going to be emptied beacause the dust men will refuse to empty them as they are too heavy, as happened when they did get back to work, we need our community charge money back so we can pay someone else to empty the bins,

  6. Not collecting brown bins is one thing, but pulling the service without notice is absolutely diabolical. You announced a collection end of April just in time for the election to look good. Why did you just say at that time it would be the last one? Then tax payers would not have filled them back up again. Everyone would have known to put little and often in their green/grey bins weekly. All you’ve done is compounded the problem, and left the whole borough with stinking, fly infested, heavy brown bins just as the weather is getting hotter. TBC you couldn’t organise the proverbial P### Up in a brewery.

  7. Latest info I can find is Brown bin collections are suspended until further notice. Fine if you live in a high rise flat not so good if you are band E + have a large garden and paying higher rates. Thurrock council get a grip of this. One very unhappy ratepayer.

  8. Disgusting, I ask you would you pay for a 3 course meal but only get 2 courses NO
You wouldn’t. But you expect us to pay for a service that we are not getting.
You really need to think about your strategies when it comes to refuge collections. The council management got us into this situation it’s up to you to sort it out.

  9. I take it we will be getting a rebate on council tax? Brown Bin has been collected only two or three times since Christmas. Completely unacceptable given we all pay for this service.
