Learning Disability students triumph in charity walk

PINEAPPLE Care Services Ltd are proud to announce their Learning Disability students participated in a charity walk of 20 miles, throughout the whole of June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. This was a huge achievement for our Learning Disability Students, as some of them are living with high anxieties and struggle leaving the home, one student is blind, other students have a range of disabilities from being non-verbal, living with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism.

The walk was opened by Ian Gleadell, Commissioning Manager of Learning Disabilities and Autism for Thurrock Council and Lavena Shovlar Pineapple Care’s Managing Director. The students made a great start walking just under a mile on the first day and have continued throughout the month.

This is a huge achievement for those students, who collected sponsorships and managed to raise an amazing £1196.00 including a donation of £200 from Pineapple Care to make a difference to people’s lives.
The Learning Disabilities Team Leader – Lucy Champion provided all the information to our students giving them the option to join in and had a great response.

At Pineapple Care we strive hard to provide social inclusion and independence for our students with great success.

Thank you to Lucy and the team for the support provided to the students throughout the walk, and a massive congratulations to all the students who participated.
