VIRIDOR is pleased to announce that, through its chief contractor, Kanadevia Inova (formerly
Hitachi Zosen Inova), it has engaged Essex-based Statom Group to support key early-phase
construction activities at Thameside Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) at the Port of Tilbury. This
collaboration marks an important milestone in the development of the facility, underscoring
Viridor’s commitment to working with local partners wherever possible.

Statom Group, based in West Thurrock, is a leading provider of residential and commercial civil
engineering and groundworks services. With extensive experience in concrete substructures and
superstructures, Statom Group is well positioned to support the initial stages of construction and
will be responsible for a range of critical site preparation activities.

Patrick Daws, Head of ERF Projects at Viridor says: “We are delighted to welcome Statom Group
as a key partner in the early development of the Thameside ERF. Their expertise in civil engineering
and groundworks is invaluable in ensuring we have a successful start to the construction of this
important facility and it’s great that we are able to employ a company based in the local area.

Paul Whelan, Statom Group’s Managing Director added: “As a company based in West Thurrock,
we are proud to be contributing to a project that will benefit the local community. We look forward
to collaborating with Viridor and playing a vital role in the successful delivery of the Thameside
ERF.”

The Thameside Energy Recovery Facility will generate energy from residual black bag waste that
cannot be recycled. Once operational, it will produce enough electricity to power the equivalent
of 93,000 homes. Viridor aims to reach commercial operation of the facility in 2028.
