THE SECOND Annual interfaith Iftar was held in Grays Park Mosque and attended by representatives of different religious organisations and community groups, Chief Constable and officers of Essex Police, Community Liaison officer of Kent Police and students.

The guests were welcomed by the Mosque Imam Abdul Rashid, Secretary Helal Ali and Assistant Secretary Joglur Rahman. They said: “Our Mosque is the first in Thurrock. We are pleased to welcome guests from a wide range of backgrounds in our Mosque. We serve more than sixty free daily Iftar meals in Ramadan.”
Councillor Qaisar Abbas said: “I take this opportunity to wish happy new year to Punjabi and Sikh community and a very happy Holi to our Hindu community.
Our Christian friends are also marking Lent Season. Having Ramadan, Lent, Punjabi New Year and Holi in the same month is a unique opportunity for interfaith harmony and networking.”
