BASILDON residents aged 18 and over are being invited to drop in for a free, five-minute digital health check at the Unity Centre in Eastgate.

Thanks to Basildon Council securing a SiSU health station, visitors can quickly measure key health indicators including height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, smoking rate, and stress levels.

Results are provided instantly, and anyone identified as being at higher risk will be directed to local support through their GP or community pharmacy.

The SiSU health station will be available at the Unity Centre on the following dates:

  • Thursday 30 October: 12 noon – 4pm
  • Friday 31 October: 12 noon – 4pm
  • Saturday 1 November: 12 noon – 4pm
  • Monday 3, Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 November: 12 noon – 4pm
  • Thursday 6 November: 12 noon – 6pm

Councillor Melissa McGeorge, Cabinet Member for Ageing Population & Health, said:

“I’d encourage as many residents as possible to take advantage of this opportunity to get a free health check while they’re in the town centre.

There will also be pop-up health activities where people can chat with health professionals and find out more about ways to improve their wellbeing.

I’m especially keen to see more men taking up this free service.”

To round off the week, a Health Listening Event will be held on Thursday 6 November from 4pm to 6pm, offering residents the chance to share their experiences and views on local health services.

These free health checks are being delivered in partnership with the Essex Wellbeing ServiceEssex County Counciland Signpost.
