Lakeside and Chelmsford: Woman accused of stealing more than £2,500 of goods

A LONDON woman has appeared in court charged with stealing more than £2,500 of clothes and household items from shops at Lakeside and in Chelmsford.

It follows an investigation by Lakeside Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Latoyah Williams, 37, of Gilpin Crescent, Upper Edmonton, is charged with eight counts of shop theft between 26 June and 7 November 2025.

She is alleged to have stolen more than £2,500 of clothing and household items, including cushions, from various shops at Lakeside Shopping Centre and Lakeside Retail Park as well as Next in Chelmer Village Retail Park, Chelmsford.

Williams was bailed by Medway magistrates on 28 January with a condition not to enter the Lakeside retail area in its entirety. She is next due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on 19 February.
