Impulse Leisure recently welcomed 150 Year 8 and 9 girls from William Edwards School for a Girls Empowerment Day.
This is the ninth time Impulse Leisure has hosted the event for three separate secondary schools, which aims to break down the barriers young women often face when engaging in physical activity, while building confidence, comfort, and positive attitudes towards being active.

Throughout the day, students took part in a range of workshops, talks and activities designed to support their physical and emotional wellbeing. From understanding the importance of nutrition to recognising the strong links between movement and mental health, the programme encouraged girls to feel empowered in their bodies and confident in their choices.
A highlight of the event was a keynote session from former boxer Hannah Beharry, who shared stories from her boxing career and spoke candidly about the challenges she has overcome.
She said: “It was a privilege to speak to such a brilliant group of young women. Their energy, honesty and willingness to learn were inspiring. I hope they left feeling stronger, more confident, and ready to take on whatever challenges come their way.”
