AN evening of tributes and recognition honoured the work of Thurrock foster carers and their supporters reports Thurrock Nub News.

The event took place at Ye Olde Plough House, Bulphan, on Friday (28 February) when many of the area’s foster carers attended to meet with like-minded residents and the teams within Thurrock Council’s children’s services that support them.

Awards and flowers were presented to them by borough Mayor Cllr Karen Raper, Janet Simon – assistant director of children’s social care and early help – and care leaver ambassador Carolina Henriques.

Addressing foster carers, Cllr Vikki Hartstean who is the cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Tonight’s event is a symbol of our deep appreciation for the sacrifices you make and the love you give.

“Every one of you deserves to be celebrated.

“Each story of triumph, of resilience, and of progress is a testament to your dedication for our Thurrock children.

“Thank-you for opening your hearts to children in need, for offering a safe haven and for showing the power of love and compassion in action.

“We are truly grateful for the work you do every day. You are making a difference, and we are so helpful for everything you do.”

Wendy Caswell spoke to the audience about the work of the Foster Carers Association.
