Thurrock 1st 8 v 2 Witham 1sts
WITH four teams being relegated, T’s really needed a win to keep away from the relegation zone, and with two games lined up it was going to be a tough weekend.
Witham started well scoring first with a well taken goal but man of the match Andre Rudder pulled it level with a neat 1-2 with Matthew Gaut. T’s applied the pressure which resulted in a solo goal effort from Christian Jenkins and slick passing allowed Kyle Taylor a simple tap in.
Matt Gaut’s tireless work rate paid off with a fine goal and short corner specialist Jacob Agoro made it 5-1 at half time from a penalty corner. With T’s controlling the majority of possession they scored a further three more goals from Rudder, Jenkins and a screamer from James Upton into the top left corner.
T’s defence switched off briefly which allowed Witham to score a late consolation goal. T’s face West Herts tomorrow in the battle for survival.
