POLICE have launched an investigation after a report of a 12-year-old boy was accosted in a subway in Corringham.
The incident happened at the underpass near to the Manorway in Corringham.
An Essex Police spokesperson said:
“Police are investigating a report of an attempted accosting in Corringham.
“A twelve-year-old boy was walking through the underpass beneath The Manorway in Corringham at around 4pm on Wednesday October 31, 2012. He was approached by a man who made a lewd suggestion, and the boy then ran off.
“The suspect is described as a white man probably aged in his 40s, with short dark brown hair, short in height and of a heavy build, wearing light blue jeans, a light blue waist length coat and grey boots.
“Officers are investigating this incident, and extra patrols will be operating in the area.
“Police are asking anyone who was in The Manorway area during the time in question and who saw any suspicious behaviour to contact officers at Grays police station on 101.”
