Talk about Tilbury

HUNDREDS of people living and working in Tilbury have been taking part in a Let’s talk about Tilbury’ survey to support future proposals for the area.

ngage – the community organisation and volunteer centre for Thurrock – has arranged the survey, talking with local people and helping them put their ideas and thoughts forward.

Annette Lewis, community worker for ngage said: “We used a variety of methods to encourage people – and businesses – to take part in the survey, including weekly visits and attending local groups.

“The Gateway Academy was particularly supportive and encouraged their young people to take part.”

She added: “We had more than 600 responses to the survey and would like to thank everyone for taking part.

“The feedback will be used by Thurrock Council and its partners to help develop a vision for the town that is shaped by people who live and work there.”

Tilbury ward councillor, Steve Liddiard, added: “I know Tilbury people have heard this before at least a couple of times over the past ten years, but this will be part of the whole Thurrock regeneration programme.

“We won’t see changes overnight, but this time we will see changes. I am determined that the regeneration money being spent here will not only benefit business, but local people too.”

There will be many opportunities for people to get involved in the future regeneration of Tilbury, and a public event is being organised in June for local people and businesses to look at some of the future plans for the area.

Everybody who took part in the survey was entered into a prize draw and the lucky winner of £250 worth of shopping vouchers was Mrs P Morgan of Monarch Close, Tilbury.
