WHEN you are hot, you are hot and in a warm and balmy day in Thurrock, the massed ranks of UKIP continued to campaign for the local and european elections on Thursday May 22nd.
They have clearly targeted Aveley, Ockendon, Belhus to name just three wards as they fight to add to their one councillor in the council chambers.
Some sources think the UKIP tally could be as high as five. Labour clearly looked worried in Belhus as they frantically campaigned at the weekend.
The support they get on the street is significant. Whether they have the ability and political infrastructure to get people out on Thursday and vote is another matter entirely.
MEP candidate and Aveley resident, Tim Aker looked in positive mood as they concentrated on the Derwent Parade area before they headed off to the four corners of the Thurrock constituency.
It all makes for a fascinating final five days.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has told LBC his party does not want to be linked with the far right.
“We have said we will not sit with parties like Front Nationale -we are not a party that wants a billing to the far right.”
He added: “If you look at the associations everyone has to form in European Parliament – a degree of compromise is needed.”
Mr Farage also said that any Ukip members with racist, extreme views are expelled from the party.
“Wherever we have found people who have extreme, racist, unpleasant views – we have unceremoniously got rid of them” he told James live in the studio.
“I have tried to protect the party by making clear that anybody that had previously been a BNP member – cannot join.
And to hold up the views of a handful of people as representative of Ukip -isn’t true.”
So why is Robert Ray still a member
When I attended a UKIP meeting at Orsett hall to find out more about UKIP Robert Ray was very merry, his dear wife Maggie tried to discuss why I should join UKIP but her rude husband kep’t calling her away to get him another drink. I found Maggie a lovely lady who could say a lot more then her husband Ray, this man believes women belong behind the kitchen sink still Robert we are not back in the 70’s when you was part of BNP times have moved on women work and entitled to a point of view. All the best Maggie
